23.15 for 1998 Titanic Privy Maple Leaf, Did I get boned?

I just won an 1998 Titanic Privy Maple Leaf off Ebay for 23.15 with 3.95 shipping.

Did I get boned on the price or was it a good deal? Also anyone ever seen one of these holders?

The 1998 Silver Maple w/'Titanic' is a low mint set, only 26,000 if I remember correctly. The Canadian Mint sold the entire lot of these maples to a private company for distribution, and such, the distributor sold them. I have seen the Maples that you have sell for anywhere from $20.00 to $45.00 at a coin show. I saw a proof sell for $175.00 I believe. As for the protective case, I have a couple 1/10 gold maples in the Eagles Ltd case w/ COA. I like it, but to each his/her own.

You paid over twice what I would have paid, but I don't believe in collectables and would not pay a premium for precious metals.

Maybe when Titanic II is filmed:smile: , the value of that round will skyrocket.

yeah, I got one of those off eBay last year for about $20. (without the holder) I figure it should be worth about $12.50 when TSHTF.

"I just won an 1998 Titanic Privy Maple Leaf off Ebay for 23.15 with 3.95 shipping...."

Nobody "wins" anything at auction. That's an auctionnes scam to make people view what they paid for as something they actually "won" = got it for nothing?

Everybody "buys" things at auctions.

Ditto what markam and goldminer said......to which I'll add "yeah...you were taken UNLESS you can find the greater fool"......the greater fool being someone that thinks an ounce of silver is worth more than you paid.

Eh, Ill hold on to it till Christmas and sell it back on Ebay. I shouldnt have too much of a problem finding someone that'll want it when the price of silver goes up this fall/winter.

I might keep it though as it is a handsome coin.

Lynns has them for 32.00

You did OK, privy marked Maple leaves usually sell for a pretty good premium. I've got a few.

There's one Canadian series that I don't understand, that is their lunar series. The Canadian lunars aren't even in the same league as the Australian lunars in my opinion but they sell for 4 to 5 times the price. Scarce I guess.

Generally, the Canadians do real nice coins, their recent silver proof sets are beauties.
